Jack Moye, Colonel, US Army(Retired)
Founder and Webmaster
My goal is to help Shriners Hospitals for Children® while fostering interest
in golf. I will finance the site out-of-pocket while among the living. Hopefully, someone who out-lives me will take it over and continue
it for this worthy charity. Anyone interested in taking over this site, please contact me.
Generous donations for Shriners Hospitals for Children® are solicited.
They are 100% tax deductable and will go directly to that institution, not to this site. No part
of those donations will be retained or rebated to this site or its owner.
There are 22 Shriner's Hospitals for Children® providing world class treatment
for children without regard to their ability to pay. They deal with orthopedic care, burn treatment and
reconstruction, cleft lip and palate care and spinal cord injury rehabilitation.
All treatment is offered without any financial obligation to patients and their
families, and there is no requirement for religion, race, or relationship to a Shriner.
More than one million children have received treatment from Shiners Hospitals for Children since the hospitals were
founded in 1922.
Support for the hospitals comes in large part from proceeds of its endowment fund investments,
which are not so good in today's market. Also, the nearly 200 Shrine Temples (chapters)
whose dues support the hospitals are severely declining in membership.
So, Shriners Hospitals for Children® must rely more heavily on donations from ourside sources.
Each of those Shrine Temples,
by the way, has an annual fund raiser
to provide free transportation for the children to the appropriate hospital. Burn cases particularly require
immediate air evacuation to the two hospitals dedicated to burns. So, when you see those men wearing the red fez on the street, give a little for this great cause.
Every gift makes a difference
in the life of a child!
If you know of a child needing treatment, Click on "Our Goal", then click on: "Please click here", then "Refer a Patient".
I took up golf in 1953 and played as often as my assignments and duties permitted.
Since retirement, I have played regularly; made a hole-in-one five times and
occasionally shoot my age (82) or better. I am an Ambassador of Morocco Shrine and oganized
and chaired a golf tournament by the Western North Carolina Shrine Club
which raised over $5000 for Shriners Hospitals for Children.
Inspiration to create this website was from the tales
I was told by my golfing buddy, Harold Martin, a former President of the Golf
Writers Association of America.
